Certificate of Achievement (Transcripted): California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC)
Below is a sample academic plan that shows you how you can complete your Certificate in a timely manner. Your path may look different depending on your circumstances?for example, if you attend part-time, choose to take Intersession or Summer courses, or have earned prior credit (Credit for Prior Learning, Dual Enrollment, Transfer Credit). You are required to meet with a counselor to set up a comprehensive education plan that is tailored to your individual circumstances and goals.
The California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) is a set of courses designed to fulfill lower-division general education requirements for California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses, as well as lead to a certificate of achievement at Santa Ana College.
To acquire the Certificate of Achievement in Cal-IGETC, it is necessary to complete the California General Education Transfer Curriculum requirements listed in this catalog with a grade of "C" or better. This pattern requires a minimum of 34 semester units. Courses must have been approved for the Cal-IGETC area during the term in which the course was taken.
Note: For most students, it is strongly recommended to complete Cal-GETC prior to transfer. Completion of Cal-GETC is not an admission requirement or admission guarantee for transfer to the CSU or UC, nor is it the only way to fulfill the lower-division, general education requirements for students at the CSU or UC. Please consult with a counselor for details on completing all transfer admission requirements or using course work from other institutions.
Students will communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Students will critically analyze and solve problems using the appropriate technique for the issue at hand, including appropriate use of logic, mathematics, multi-disciplinary, and cultural considerations where applicable.
Students will develop an understanding of the information available, and the perspectives and approaches of the physical, biological, social and behavioral sciences.
